„You and the Undead“ is the first joint release of avant-pop duo The Mañana People and alternative folk venture kingdomforahorse.

With two modest home studios and plenty of lockdown time available, both projects decided to cover each other's music, creating a unique mixture of two unique approaches to pop songwriting and arranging.

The Mañana People's take on “You”, the opening track of kingdomforahorse's debut Music For Humans (2019) uses multiple Mellotron layers, 12-String guitars, samples and drum machines to turn the track's pantheistic message of unity and wonder into a darker, existentialist, android-like questioning of individuality.

kingdomforahorse's rendition of “The Mañana People Fight the Undead”, the closing track on TMP's debut Princess Diana (2019, Unique Records) takes the song's original story about a zombie apocalypse to the extreme: set in a truly post-apocalyptic world, i.e. with no electricity or musical intruments, the song consists uniquely of primal and yet choir-like vocal arrangements, with psychedelic layers, baroque harmonies, complex canons and even a little beatboxing.
